National Water Dance 2020

In response to the constraints of COVID-19, and for the first time ever, National Water Dance is going fully digital! The renowned nation-wide simultaneous dance performance founded by Miami-based choreographer and LALA artist-in-residence Dale Andree will be livestreamed online.

LALA Artist-in-residence Michelle Grant Murray’s Olujimi Dance Theater Joins National Water Dance 2020.

Watch thousands of dancers, choreographers, and performers from 100+ institutions and 36 states in this nationally synchronized “movement choir” designed to draw attention to water issues and inspire action on climate change. Or join the performance yourself!

Where can I follow the performance livestream?

Just follow MDC Live Arts on social media and/or visit mdclivearts.org to access the National Water Dance livestream and catch our original contribution to the dance performance, all in one place!

Saturday, April 18th at 4pm EST. Save the date.

How can I participate in National Water Dance?

Participating is as simple as following the four simple steps below.

  1. Tag National Water Dance on social media IG and FB and let them know you’re going to dance so they can follow you!
  2. Compose your dance! Include the National Water Dance shared ‘movement phrase’ for the beginning and end of your video. Here is the video of the beginning movement phrase and the ending movement phrase.
  3. Go LIVE on your social media account along with thousands of other dancers on April 18th at 4PM EST!
  4. Upload and share your video on social media. When you are done with your livestream video, save it and upload it to your social media account on Instagram or Facebook. In the post or story include one of the NWD hashtags #nationalwaterdance #nationalwaterdance2020 #dancingforourlives and tag National Water Dance IG:@nationalwater_dance; FB: facebook.com/nationalwaterdance to have your dance reshared!
