Artists Tackling Climate Change:

Action-Driven Programs and Performances for the Planet.

Miami is one of the nation’s most vulnerable regions to climate change, a subtropical ground zero for the global climate crisis besieged by sea-level rise, recurrent natural disasters, climate gentrification, and the economic impacts of a warming planet. In response, Live Arts Miami launched the ECOCultura initiative, an ongoing series of action-driven programs and performances for the planet: artists tackling climate change through dynamic dance, theater, and music events, educational activities, and Climate Chats with leading social and environmental activists designed to spark dialogue and fan the flames of positive change.

A combination of the Greek word for Home and the Spanish word for Culture, the title of the series highlights the connection between the global and the local dimensions of climate crisis and invites us to reflect on the links between culture and climate, art, and activism, artists and the environment. In the fight against climate change, our ECOCultura artists are powerful agents of change and transformation, the cultural catalysts of social and environmental justice. Together with local environmental activists and national environmental movement leaders on the frontlines of the climate crisis, they stand to change the world, for good.
