A Site-Specific Dance Ritual for Hope and Ancestral Healing

Live Arts Miami is proud to present Michelle Grant-Murray’s RoseWater at Pinecrest Gardens, the first of six unforgettable new performances addressing climate change and sustainability produced by the 2020/2021 LALA Artists In Residence.

A hauntingly beautiful piece of dance theater, RoseWater is a dance ritual inspired by the ancestral practice of rosewater baths prepared by the artist’s grandmother. The performance masterfully blends sobering revelation with hopeful inquiry, calling for transformational change and the acknowledgment of the multigenerational legacy of healing and restoration passed down through ancestral lines in Black communities. A timely call to reconnect to our ancestors and look to the past for hope, healing, and other treasures.

The thought-provoking, open-air performance will transform the garden into a series of spaces for this embodied inquiry featuring some of Miami’s most talented performers. Refresh and inform yourself with a magical night at the beautiful Pinecrest Gardens and celebrate the start of the LALA Performance Series.
